1. I wasn't thrilled to be extremely close to a cornucopia of open petri dishes containing things like herpes, MRSA, and stool samples. I guess I would of liked it more had the technicians worn gloves, masks, or even had a bottle of bleach in a holster on their belts.
2. I think working in a clinical lab would be cool as a summer job or in college for some extra cash, but I don't think I'd ever build a career around it.
3. SO MUCH FUNNNNNNNN!
4. The weird ones with looooong latin names that caused nasty-looking sores. I dont remember his name, but I would love to intern with the doctor who described the golf course case.
The whole idea of working in a smelly lab dealing with disease samples all day doesn't sound too appealing to me. The rapid HIV test was pretty neat, though. Just watching the diseases grow in the dishes was enough to make me think twice about walking farther into the lab. Overall, I guess it was informational, but certainly not my favorite activity.
1. I felt like I was in a swimming pool of germs and it seemed sort of weird that NO ONE was wearing gloves or masks or anything.
2. I don't think I would enjoy working in a lab all day. I would definitely have to shower with antibacterial soap every night or bleach!
3. Infectious diseases are really interesting and I don't think you could ever get bored.
1. I thought the microbiology lab was interesting but very gross to be around all the bacteria- especially the staph (or staff I don't know how to spell it!).
2. I think I would be paranoid of getting sick working there everyday and I think it would also get kinda boring working there all day everyday too
3. I guess- that one doctor who worked with the golf course case acted like a detective
4. The flesh eating disease really scared me!!!
