Trauma ICU

1. What impressed you the most about the ICU experience?
2. Patients in the ICU are very sick compared to, for example, the clinic patients at the TB clinic. Do you think you would enjoy taking care of very sick patients or healthier patients? Why?
3. What is the hyperbaric chamber used for?
4. Give some examples of new things you learned during your tour of the LifeFlight helicopter today.

1. Probably the way they were treated and their limited degree of consciousness.
2. I probably wouldn't be able to take care of patients in the ICU unless I was certain that they would be able to return to their normal lives.
3. Apparently some sort of oxygen therapy at a low atmospheric pressure.
4. I never realized how tiny the compartment of the helicopter was until we actually saw it.

1. The fact that Dr. Miller was happy to let us observe patients like real interns.
2. Sick patients, because I have a messiah complex. Just kidding! Sick patients, because they are usually the more interesting and hands-on cases.
3. Err, I dont remember which one that was.
4. All the elevators are overridden by the life-flight button.
