Water Treatment

1. What is one thing you learned about water treatment that you did not know before?
2. How does water treatment impact the health of our society?

Water treatment...
well, I didn't know there were so many chemicals and other floaty bits in the "finished product." Proper water treatment can make all the difference regarding someone's quality of life.

It was kind of interesting, but I think it would have been better if they had linked more information with medical issues because while I was there, I didn't notice any relevance. Only afterwards did I make any connections.

2. I think access to clean water is necessary for sanitation and prevention of disease spreading, but I think we can all appreciate that without actually visiting a treatment facility on a really hot summer day. Or, like Rosie said, maybe we could've tied it in more to medicine while we were there...?

I didn't realize how LONG the process is to get water from natural resources into our homes.

Without water treatment our society would be a total mess!

1. The steps and procedures, the turbidity standards, the chemicals...oh their names..., and their uses..., and the bills...$$$.

2. Water treatment is like the backbone of our society. When water treatment breaks/shuts down our society is paralyzed... Our society falls apart.

I learned that the process is very long and complicated to provide drinking water for our society and we should not take for granted the water that flows through our sinks.

I didn't know that, technically, bottled water is not as clean as the filtered water. It was impressive to see the massiveness of the complex and that it pumps like 90 million gallons of water a day (or something like that). But in the last room we were in, the chlorine smell was overpowering. It was cool walking over the bridge though.

I still prefer bottled water!!!!!!!!

This has probably been said already, but that's what I get for commenting late. I never realized how long the process is for cleaning the water. It was really impressive to see the pumps and all that. I guess I never thought about where all of our water comes from, and I know now not to take it for granted. Without water treatment, health overall in our society for take a serious blow.

I learned that we didn't drink H2O water because it would be too expensive. And, that the water pumped this summer will be used in the fall-winter time!
